The word precise means "exact," as in "a precise definition". The meaning
of the word comes from the Latin root -cis, meaning " to cut." In order to to make
a definition precise, all vague or unnecessary information must be cut out.
The word scissors, which names a cutting tool, also contains the root cis. Because
they share the same root, precise and scissors are related in spelling and meaning.
